Beat the Winter Blahs

Ask any educator and they will tell you that the months of January and February are impossibly long. The weather is bland at its best. We are stuck inside most days at school with no way for our students to burn off some of their excess energy. This year in particular the rain has ceased to stop, the temperatures have been nothing short of a roller coaster ride, and it has most people (especially our Kennedy Cubs) itching to do something fun.
It got me thinking about experiences we can provide our students at home that are inexpensive (if not free!) that keep them engaged on these long, cold days.
1. Play in the snow- if we are lucky enough to have snow!
2. Bake something together in the kitchen
3. Tackle some chores! (providing an incentive or praise can make this more rewarding and fun)
4. Make a craft (just with stuff lying around the house...slime is an easy go to!)
5. Play a game
6. Learn something together (provides a great opportunity to have meaningful conversation with your child)
